Two Roads
I 'm walking on a broad, paved lane
Don't ask me , I know not it's name
I walk and walk, there are holes in my shoes
Two roads I see, which one to choose.
One road turns to the left, one right
One road is cloudy, the other is bright
One road is green with lots of trees
The other road is dusty, makes me sneeze
I stop, close my eyes and feel which way to go
Testing which way the wind does blow
I cannot go straight, the road splits each way
If I choose the wrong one I will dearly pay
I choose the road with trees, it's green
It leads to a place that is so serene
Off in the distance I see a high hill
I go there. It has flowers and is very still.
On that high, old hill I sit midst the flowers
It's so peaceful I sit there for hours
Warm winds blow through my silken hair
The sun warms my alabaster skin so fair
At the end of the day the sun goes to bed
It is then that I notice my skin is all red
Oh dear, I am burned, Oh what will I do?
Oh my,oh my,oh my, I haven't a clue.
The sky turns dark, the rain begins to fall
I quickly jump over the garden wall
Heading for home as fast as I can
I hope my burn will turn to tan.
I made a mistake. I chose the wrong road.
I'm not, for a long time, going to leave my abode.
My ma's going to be madder than a wet hen
She won't let me wander from the house again.
