Ode To Mothers
I once had a mother with long black hair Her eyes were blue/green, her skin so fair She left me when I was but a wee lass I was sad but remembered,'This, too, shall pass'
She never was happy on this old earth She never danced or had joy or mirth Never using her talents, if any she had Always seeming to be so very sad
At eight years of age she went out of my life Went across country to be someones wife Sent me to live in a house with my dad And a step mom that was mean and bad
Is it any wonder I don't celebrate this day? This day dedicated to mothers in every way Well, I raise my glass to all mothers as a salute And to mine say I, 'bend over I give you my boot. May 14, 2006
